How it works

  • Hair in the Anagen stage of growth will only be targeted during the treatment Anagen stage is the active growth phase, where the hair is attached to a blood supply Not all hairs are in the Anagen stage, hairs are in all different stages at once.

    Understanding Hair Growth Cycles

Hair in the Anagen stage of growth will only be targeted during the treatment. Anagen stage is the active growth phase, where the hair is attached to a blood supply. Not all hairs are in the Anagen stage, hairs are in all different stages at once.

  • Target

Multiple treatments are needed to target all hairs when in the Anagen stage of growth. For this reason, the area will be patchy while undergoing laser hair removal.

  • LIGHT ABSORPTION

Laser energy is selectively absorbed by melanin (pigment) within the hair follicle. The hair follicle and its blood supply is selectively damaged, sparing the surrounding skin, so that thermal damage is caused only to the hair itself.

  • HAIR REMOVAL

Once the hair has been targeted, it can take up to 2-3 weeks for the targeted hairs to fall out. Hair will fall out in patches. Grey, white or red hairs will not respond to treatment.

To get the most out of your session, ensure the treatment area is clean and any visible hair is closely shaved. Discontinue use of any skincare products on the treatment area 24 hours pre-treatment, ensure no fake tan, gradual tan, lotions or creams are on the treatment area. No sun exposure 2 weeks prior to treatment, to avoid risk of thermal injury. Schedule your treatment at least four weeks after any waxing, plucking, or removal of the hair by follicle, or bleaching of the hair. In some cases, a pigment inhibitor will be necessary to avoid risk of hyperpigmentation.

Apply Pink Skin Care Recovery Gel for 24-48 hours post treatment. Always apply SPF to the treatment area and limit sun exposure. Active skin care can resume 48-72 hours post treatment.

Between visits, the hair should be shaved or trimmed. Any removal of the hair by waxing, plucking, threading or tweezing (removal of hair follicle) will reduce treatment outcomes.

Please notify your clinician if there are changes to your medical history, medications or pregnancy. Hormonal imbalances can affect the treatment outcome and more treatments may be necessary. Cooperation and adherence to aftercare protocols is necessary.

FAQs

Laser Hair Removal – Frequently Asked Questions

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light to safely target and damage the hair follicle, preventing future growth. The pigment (melanin) in the hair absorbs the laser energy, while advanced cooling technology keeps the surrounding skin protected.

We use the Fotona AvalancheLase®, one of the world’s most advanced TGA-approved medical-grade laser systems. It combines two wavelengths —Alexandrite (755 nm)andNd:YAG (1064 nm)— making it effective and safe across all skin types, from fair to dark.

AvalancheLase® is designed for ultimate speed, safety and comfort. Its advanced technology allows:

  • Faster sessions with large spot sizes that cover more skin in less time
  • More comfortable treatments with patented DMC™ Cooling built into the handpiece
  • Superior safety with real-time skin monitoring (MatrixView® sensors)
  • Patient-friendly results with the unique “avalanche” method that gently and effectively weakens each follicle

Laser hair removal provides long-term reduction in hair growth. Most clients enjoy smooth, hair-free skin with lasting results, although some maintenance treatments may be required over time due to hormonal changes or natural hair cycles.

Most clients need6–10 sessionsfor optimal results. Treatments are spaced4–6 weeks apartto catch hairs in their active growth phase. Some areas may respond faster, while others may require occasional maintenance.

Most clients find the treatment very tolerable. The Fotona AvalancheLase® uses patented DMC™ Cooling technology, which continuously cools the skin during treatment to maximise comfort and safety. The sensation is often described as a quick snap followed by soothing coolness — far gentler than waxing or other traditional methods.

Yes. The Fotona AvalancheLase® is aTGA-approved medical-grade laser system designed with multiple built-in safety features. Its DMC™ Cooling technology protects your skin by keeping the surface cool and comfortable throughout the treatment, while the MatrixView® sensors continuously monitor your skin in real time to ensure the correct energy is delivered. Together, these technologies make treatments both highly effective and exceptionally safe for all skin types.

Laser hair removal is suitable for almost all areas of the body, including:

  • Face (lip, chin, sideburns, jawline)
  • Underarms
  • Arms and legs
  • Bikini / Brazilian
  • Back, chest, and shoulders
  • Stomach and torso

Yes. To get the best results:

  • Avoid waxing, plucking or threading for at least 4 weeks prior.
  • Avoid tanning, sunbeds and fake tan for 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Arrive with clean skin free from lotions, deodorant or makeup.

Some clients notice follicular swelling (tiny bumps around the follicles) or mild redness, while others may see little to no reaction. Both are normal.

Aftercare includes:

  • Apply Pink Skin Care Recovery Gel as directed by your therapist.
  • Avoid heat, heavy exercise, and direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours.
  • Always use SPF on treated areas if exposed to the sun.
  • Follow your personalised aftercare plan.
  • Treated hairs will gradually shed — it typically takes 2–3 weeks for the hair to fully fall out.
