Laser Hair Removal Explained: AvalancheLase®, Sessions, Maintenance & Aftercare
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular treatments we offer — but it’s also one of the most misunderstood.
In this guide, we explain how AvalancheLase® laser hair removal works, how many sessions you need, what maintenance looks like, and how to prepare for your treatment.
Laser Hair Removal, Explained (Without the Confusion)
Laser hair removal is one of those treatments everyone’s heard about — but not many people have had properly explained.
If you’ve ever wondered why it takes multiple sessions, whether maintenance is normal, or what “advanced laser” really means, you’re not alone. Let’s walk through it together.
At Pink Laser Clinics, we use AvalancheLase® Laser Hair Removal, chosen for its comfort, safety and long-term results — especially for clients who’ve struggled with sensitivity or stubborn regrowth in the past.
Why we chose AvalancheLase® (and why it feels so different)
Not all laser hair removal machines are created equal — and this is where AvalancheLase® truly stands apart.
AvalancheLase® is an advanced laser hair removal system developed by Fotona, designed to deliver powerful results without sacrificing comfort. It combines 2 medical-grade wavelengths in 1 system, allowing us to treat a wide range of skin tones and hair types safely and effectively.
In simple terms?
It works smarter, faster and more comfortably than traditional laser systems.
What makes AvalancheLase® so special?
2 wavelengths, working together
AvalancheLase® uses Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) technology in one system. This means we can customise treatments precisely — whether hair is fine, coarse, shallow or deeper — without compromising skin safety.
Advanced cooling built in
One of the standout features is its Dry Spray Molecular Cooling (DMC™) technology. Cooling happens instantly during treatment, not after — which is why many clients are surprised by how comfortable it feels, even in sensitive areas.
No ice packs. No freezing air hoses. Just controlled, intelligent cooling where it matters.
Faster treatments, better coverage
AvalancheLase® uses large spot sizes and high frequencies, allowing us to treat areas more evenly and efficiently. This means:
• Shorter appointment times
• More consistent results
• Less irritation to the skin
What does this mean for you?
For clients, this translates to:
• Noticeably more comfortable treatments
• Safer laser sessions, even for deeper skin tones
• Better reduction over fewer sessions
• Less stress on sensitive skin areas
Many clients tell us it’s the first time laser hair removal felt manageable — not something they had to “get through”.
So… how does laser hair removal actually work?
Hair grows in cycles, and laser can only treat hair that’s in its active growth phase.
Because not all hair grows at the same time, laser hair removal is a process. Each session treats a different group of hairs, which is why spacing and consistency matter so much.
With each treatment, you’ll notice:
• Slower regrowth
• Finer, softer hair
• Longer periods of smoothness
A gentle note on expectations
Even with exceptional technology, laser hair removal is still a process. Hair grows in cycles, hormones play a role, and maintenance is normal.
What AvalancheLase® does is give us the best possible starting point — advanced technology paired with experienced clinicians, personalised settings and honest treatment planning.
And that combination is where real results come from.
How many sessions do I usually need?
Most clients need 6–10 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
This can vary depending on:
• The area being treated
• Hair thickness and colour
• Hormonal factors
Laser isn’t a one-off — and that’s not a failure. It’s simply how hair biology works.
Will I need maintenance treatments?
Yes — and that’s completely normal.
Hormones can activate new follicles over time, especially in areas like the face, underarms and Brazilian. Most clients choose a maintenance session every 6–12 months to keep results looking their best.
Think of it as upkeep, not starting again.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
A little prep makes a big difference to your comfort and results.
Before your appointment, please:
• Shave the area 24 hours before treatment
• Come freshly showered with clean skin
• Do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant or perfumes on the treatment area
• Avoid waxing, threading or plucking for 4 weeks prior
• No tanning or fake tan for 2 weeks before your session
Coming in with clean, product-free skin allows the laser to work safely and effectively — and helps minimise irritation during treatment.
If you’re ever unsure about prep for a specific area, just ask — we’re always happy to guide you.
What about aftercare?
After treatment, it’s normal for the skin to feel warm or slightly flushed — this usually settles within a few hours.
To support healing and keep the skin comfortable:
• Avoid heat, exercise, saunas and hot showers for 24–48 hours
• No sun exposure or fake tan for at least 7 days
• Use gentle, fragrance-free skincare only
Many of our clients choose to use Pink Skin Care Post Laser Recovery Gel during the first few days after treatment. It’s designed specifically to calm, hydrate and support the skin barrier following laser procedures, helping reduce sensitivity and dryness while the skin recovers.
Your therapist will always advise whether this is suitable for you and how to use it as part of your personalised aftercare plan.
Post Laser Recovery Gel is available in-clinic and recommended after most laser treatments.
A final note from us
We believe laser hair removal should be honest, comfortable and personalised — not rushed or over-promised.
If you have questions, want to start, or just need advice on your current treatment plan, we’re always here.
Warmly,
