The StarFormer PRO Advantage
3.0 Tesla HITS magnetic muscle stimulation for clinical pelvic floor rehabilitation
Medical-Grade Magnetic Muscle Stimulation
Most pelvic floor clinics use devices operating at 2.5 Tesla or below. That works for some patients, but not all.
Our Fotona StarFormer PRO operates at 3.0 Tesla, delivering 20% greater magnetic field intensity than the most commonly available alternative. At this intensity, the magnetic field reaches the sacral nerve roots (S2 to S4) responsible for bladder and bowel control, enabling true neuromodulation alongside muscle strengthening.
The result is broader clinical coverage, deeper nerve activation, and published outcomes across all types of urinary incontinence, not just stress incontinence alone.
HITS Technology
Magnetic pulses depolarise motor neurons in the pelvic floor, triggering supramaximal contractions that recruit 100% of accessible muscle fibres. This level of activation is physically impossible through voluntary Kegel exercise. The published Talaber et al. (2021) review of 87 clinical studies confirmed HITS activates both slow-twitch and fast-twitch fibres simultaneously.
Sacral Nerve Neuromodulation
At 3.0 Tesla, the magnetic field penetrates deep enough to reach the sacral nerve roots that control bladder and bowel function. This retrains the neural pathways governing continence, which is why IntimaWave treats urge and mixed incontinence effectively, not just stress incontinence. Lower-Tesla devices may not reach these deeper structures.
Dual-Channel Applicators
Seat and back applicators operate simultaneously for 3D pelvic floor and lumbar activation. Quattro mode extends to four applicators treating pelvic floor, sacral region, lumbar and core muscles in a single session.
Fully Clothed, Pain-Free
Magnetic stimulation bypasses cutaneous skin receptors entirely. No undressing, no probes, no preparation. You sit in your own clothing for 20 to 30 minutes, then resume your day immediately with zero downtime.
Published Clinical Evidence
HITS technology is supported by 87 peer-reviewed studies. A 2022 Journal of Clinical Medicine study specifically validated 3.0 Tesla FMS as safe and effective for all types of female urinary incontinence including stress, urge and mixed.
Manufactured by Fotona d.o.o., Ljubljana, Slovenia. Precision medical and aesthetic energy devices since 1964. CE Class IIa Medical Device. The StarFormer PRO is the only 3.0 Tesla functional magnetic stimulation platform available at an aesthetic clinic in Melbourne.

Clinical Evidence for IntimaWave and HITS Technology
Pink Laser Clinics bases its treatment decisions on published clinical evidence. The following peer-reviewed studies support the safety and effectiveness of HITS magnetic stimulation technology used in the Fotona StarFormer PRO.
Talaber et al.
2021Landmark review analysing 87 clinical studies across four areas: muscle strengthening (17 studies), pelvic floor rehabilitation (37 studies), pain management (15 studies) and motor rehabilitation (18 studies). The pelvic floor studies alone included 1,498 patients.
Key findings confirmed that magnetic stimulation is equally or more effective than electrical stimulation for treating urinary incontinence, with the significant advantage of being painless and requiring no skin contact.
Strumbelj et al.
Cited in Talaber 2021A study using HITS technology to treat 61 patients with static urinary incontinence and 21 patients with post-partum incontinence. 80.3% of static urinary incontinence patients achieved complete recovery, with a further 14.8% reporting significant improvement. For post-partum incontinence, 95.2% achieved complete recovery.
Vadala et al.
Cited in Talaber 2021A study of 20 urinary incontinence patients found significant reductions (p<0.01) in both frequency of urination and nocturia after HITS treatment. Urodynamic testing confirmed measurable physiological improvement.
Brusciano et al.
Cited in Talaber 2021A study of 30 patients with faecal incontinence found significant improvement in 80% of patients on the Cleveland Clinic Fecal Incontinence Score, with a mean reduction of 60%. Quality of life scores improved in 90% of patients, with significant reductions in depression and embarrassment patterns.
Miyauchi
2022A 79-year-old male with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome was treated with 16 IntimaWave sessions over 3 months. His NIH Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index improved from 21 to 9. His International Prostate Symptom Score improved from 19 to 6. Quality of life score improved from 5 to 2.
Miyauchi
2022An 84-year-old female with incomplete urinary retention and UTI, previously managed with a balloon catheter, was treated with 16 IntimaWave sessions. Residual urine volume dropped from 291ml to 63ml. Dysuria disappeared completely. Medication was stopped.
Kitanovic & Talaber
2024A case series of 4 patients with chronic pain (3 lumbar, 1 shoulder) treated with 7 to 8 StarFormer sessions. All patients reported pain reduction during treatment and at 1-month follow-up. No adverse events were reported.
Valetic et al.
Cited in Talaber 2021A study of 57 female patients with urgent, stress and mixed urinary incontinence treated twice weekly for 8 weeks. Results across all incontinence types demonstrated high rates of complete resolution.
These studies represent a growing body of evidence supporting HITS magnetic stimulation for pelvic floor rehabilitation. New research continues to expand the clinical applications of this technology.

IntimaWave Pelvic Floor Treatments, Questions We're Asked the Most.
Yes. You remain fully clothed throughout the treatment, so menstruation does not affect the procedure. You can attend your scheduled session as normal.
Yes. IntimaWave is particularly beneficial during and after menopause, when hormonal changes cause the pelvic floor muscles to weaken and thin. Magnetic stimulation actively rebuilds muscle mass regardless of hormonal status. Published studies include pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women with positive outcomes across both groups.
