Benign skin lesion removal

Mole Removal Melbourne

Cosmetic removal of raised, confirmed-benign moles with the Fotona Er:YAG laser. Precise, non-surgical, and planned around your skin. Anything that should be looked at first, we refer before we treat.

The basics

Raised, benign moles.

We remove raised moles that are confirmed benign, for how they look and feel. Some are small and flat enough to take in a single session. Others sit deeper or carry a blood supply, and those are planned more carefully. What stays constant is that we work with benign moles only.

Mole removal here is cosmetic and non-surgical. For anything that needs a medical opinion, the right first step is a skin check, and we will always say so.

Confirmed benign, first

We treat benign moles only.

If a GP or skin-check professional has confirmed your mole is benign, you are exactly who this treatment is for. If you have not had a recent skin check, we can point you to a local skin cancer clinic before your appointment. And if our clinicians feel any lesion should be assessed first, we will tell you plainly and refer you before anything is treated.

The next step

Had your mole checked? This is what comes next.

Plenty of people are told a mole is benign, then left to decide for themselves whether to have it removed, with nowhere obvious to go. That is the gap we fill.

Bring that reassurance in, and we take care of the cosmetic side, cleanly and without surgery.

Our approach

Non-surgical, and precise.

The Er:YAG laser removes a mole in fine, controlled layers, taking the raised tissue while keeping the heat to the skin around it low. Moles with a blood supply are worked a little deeper, with the base sealed as we go. Smaller, flatter benign moles can be treated in one to a few sessions. Larger or deeper moles are planned across a course, usually from three sessions, so the skin is never forced and the result settles cleanly. It is the considered, non-surgical way to remove a benign mole you would rather not have.

Common questions

Before you book

Do you check whether my mole is cancerous?

No. That is a medical assessment, and not something we do. We remove moles that have been confirmed benign. If yours has not been checked, we will guide you to a skin clinic first, and we refer anything that looks like it needs a closer look.

Can you remove a mole on my face?

Yes. The face is one of the most common places people ask about, and the precision of the laser suits it well. Benign moles only, and planned to the area.

How many sessions will it take?

Smaller, flatter moles can be treated in one to a few sessions. Larger or deeper moles are planned across a course, usually from three, so the skin heals cleanly rather than being pushed.

Will it scar?

Laser removal is precise and gentle on the surrounding skin, so most heal with little to no mark. Some pinkness while the skin settles is normal, and we guide the aftercare.

Does the mole grow back?

A mole removed in full does not return at the same spot. We will be honest at consultation about what is realistic for yours.

Is this the same as surgical removal?

No. This is a non-surgical, cosmetic option for benign moles, with no cutting or stitches. Surgical removal is a medical procedure for a different purpose, and we will tell you if that is the more appropriate route for you.

What about a mole with hair?

Hair can grow from a benign mole. We can still remove the mole, and the hair is addressed as part of planning your treatment.

Is it covered by Medicare?

Cosmetic removal of benign moles is not covered by Medicare or private health. We will set out the cost clearly when we plan your treatment.
