What is a skin tag?
A skin tag, or acrochordon, is a small, soft piece of skin that sits slightly raised or hangs from a thin stalk. They are completely benign, and most are skin-coloured or a shade darker. You will usually find them where skin meets skin: the neck, underarms, eyelids, under the bust, and other folds.
Smaller tags often have little or no blood supply, which makes them simple and quick to remove. Larger ones, with more attachment to the skin, can carry a small blood supply and take a little more care. Both are routine for our clinicians.
Common, and nothing to worry about.
Skin tags are one of the most common skin growths. They tend to come with friction and skin folds, and they become more common with age, during pregnancy, and where there is a family tendency to them. None of that makes them a concern. They are harmless.
People usually want them gone for how they look and feel, rather than for any medical reason, and that is a perfectly good reason to treat them.
Which one is yours?
Not sure? You don’t have to choose. The consultation is free, and your clinician confirms what each lesion is before anything is booked.
The usual places, and the delicate ones.
Skin tags turn up most often on the neck and underarms, and we treat them wherever they appear, including the more delicate areas around the eyes, with the care those areas need.
Obvious, and still checked.
Skin tags are clinically obvious and benign, so they do not need a skin check before treatment. Even so, your clinician looks at everything you would like removed at your consultation. If anything looks like it should be reviewed by a skin-check professional first, we will tell you plainly before we treat.
Pricing, planned with you.
Skin tags are priced per tag, or by area when several sit together. Choose what fits, or start with a free consultation and we'll plan it with you.
Skin tag removal is priced per tag and by area. Cosmetic removal of benign skin tags is not covered by Medicare or private health insurance.

Do skin tags grow back after laser removal?
A tag that has been removed does not return at the same spot. New tags can still appear elsewhere over time, since the things that cause them, like friction and skin folds, are still there, but the ones we treat are gone for good.
How many can you remove in one session?
Usually several. If you have a cluster of tags, your clinician will plan to treat them together, which is quicker for you and more economical than returning for each one.
Does it hurt?
Most tags are treated very comfortably. We use numbing where it helps, and the precision of the laser keeps each removal quick.
Will it leave a mark or scar?
Because the laser is precise and gentle on the skin around the tag, most heal with little to no mark. A small spot of pinkness while the skin settles is normal, and we will guide the aftercare.
Do skin tags fall off on their own?
Occasionally a tag will twist and drop off by itself, but most stay put. Removing them cleanly with a laser avoids the bleeding and irritation of pulling or tying them off at home.
Do I need a skin check first?
No. Skin tags are benign and obvious, so a skin check is not needed to treat them. Your clinician still looks at every lesion and will refer anything atypical before treating.
Is it covered by Medicare?
Cosmetic removal of benign skin tags is not covered by Medicare or private health. We will set out the cost clearly when we plan your treatment.
